Fertility & IVF

  • Ovulatory Disorders: Conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) can cause irregular or absent ovulation. Treatment may involve medications to induce ovulation.
  • Fallopian Tube Blockages: Blockages can prevent the egg and sperm from meeting. IVF is often recommended as it bypasses the need for open fallopian tubes.
  •
  • Low Sperm Count or Quality: In cases of male factor infertility, IVF with Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) may be used. ICSI involves injecting a single sperm directly into the egg.
  • Varicocele: A common cause of male infertility due to enlarged veins in the testicles. Surgical repair may improve fertility.

In some cases, the cause of infertility remains unknown. IVF is often a recommended treatment option as it addresses multiple potential issues.

As women age, fertility declines. IVF, including the use of donor eggs, may be suggested to improve the chances of conception.

Conditions like uterine fibroids or abnormalities may interfere with implantation. IVF allows for direct placement of embryos into the uterus, bypassing potential obstacles.

IVF, along with pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT), may be considered for couples experiencing recurrent miscarriages to select embryos with normal chromosomal content.
